WELCOME to SCOTLAND. The server of the Department of Geography at the University of Edinburgh, providing a gateway to the country of Scotland, its geography, history, people, traditions and culture.
Edinburgh Old Town. The first buildings in Edinburgh were hard by the Castle, for protection, but gradually they spread down the ridge to the east of the fortress. This is the ld Town.
Notable Dates in Scottish History. From St Columba's death in 597AD, to Scotland beating England to win the Rugby "Grand Slam" in 1990.
The GLENMORANGIE. A warm welcome awaits you at the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Highlands of Scotland.
Culloden Moor and the Story of the Battle. A good guide to the battle. Written in 1867.
Scottish Food and Drink. Scotland has a distinctive cuisine, often based on very traditional foods. Of the many culinary delights on offer, some of the more traditional Scottish foods and drinks are listed.
Scotsmen at the Alamo. Four Scotsmen died at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. Here are a few notes.
